Nigeria’s most innovative telecommunications company, Etisalat has launched its new brand identity – 9mobile, with an unveiling of the new name and logo at an event, which was held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday.
The brand transformation which the telecom company has undertaken promises to sustain and improve upon its propositions which it has delivered since inception 9 years ago.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer, 9Mobile, Boye Olusanya, said the new brand identity will enable the company to connect to its Nigerian roots and a lot more with its core market, which is the youth.
“In our 9 years of operations, we have remained a prime driver and avid supporter of the Nigerian spirit of excellence and we will continue to stay true to our “Naijacentric identity” which is what the 9 actually represents in 9mobile. This notion is strongly reflected in our core messages and depicted in major projects and initiatives which we have been known to support.
“Launching this new brand identity shows our lifelong commitment to being in business and servicing Nigerians with the best of telecommunications services. We believe in the ‘can do spirit’ of Nigeria and this led us to introduce 0809ja which is like a slogan now in the country with the response being ‘9ja for life’. This shows Nigerians do believe in the Nigerian project when given the opportunity which is one of the major reasons we are rebranding to 9mobile because it embodies the Nigerian spirit of never given up,” Boye said.
The CEO explained further: “We live in a digitalised world and 9mobile is better positioned as the most innovative telecommunications company to take Nigerians to the future of high-tech telecommunications. Rebranding has commenced at all of the company’s offices, Experience Centres, online and physical touch points, to suit the resolve to serve customers better, as 9moblie guards its position as the most customer-centric and leading innovative telecoms company.
