Nigerian literary giant, Chimamanda Adichie, has disowned some write-ups circulating online that were attributed to her in which she purportedly showed support for the current agitation for the resuscitation of the Republic of Biafra led by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Adichie, who authored of the bestselling novel, ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’, a chaotic love story set around the Biafran Republic, which crumbled at the end of the 1967 to 1970 Nigerian Civil War, stated in a Facebook post on Monday that she hasn’t written any article on Biafra.
The multi award-winning writer, displayed one of the write-ups falsely attributed to her, with the headline: ‘Enough of this Political Correctness, I am a Biafran and Nothing Else – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’, said she never made any statement on Biafra.
“This headline below, and other similar headlines, which appeared on some websites: are false. They are completely invented; along with some accompanying quotes which have been attributed to me. I did not say or write those words,” Adichie posted on Facebook.
