Writing a book is one of the most important strategies to building your personal brand, and making it a global success.
A book written by you says a lot about you and your brand. It tells people that you are knowledgeable in your industry and an authority in your chosen brand. The best of books are yet to be written in your chosen field.
Every brand is unique and has special information to offer to the world. You need to start writing today. Whether you are a full time employee or entrepreneur, you can decide to write something every day by carving out a portion of your daily.
Life offers equal amount of time every day to everyone. We all have just 24 hours each day, and the way we use this equal resource is what makes the difference. Book writing makes you a much better thinker. You have to put yourself into your readers’ shoes and question whether the information you are providing them is what they need to know.
You may have to start with writing and publishing regular blog posts or other content offering great advice and helpful information freely over a period of time before writing a full-length book. Creating content over time will help you to accumulate material necessary for your book.
While building and deploying your brand, you will acquire good knowledge required for writing an enlightening, valuable book. Sometimes, while writing, you may seem to be short of ideas to write. Take a break and return with fresh insights and renewed drive. Book writing takes a lot of patience and discipline.
However, it can be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do to make your brand a global success. Your book will place your brand before prospective fans and clients. Likewise, it will strengthen your brand identity before your existing fans and clients. Your book will help to increase your brand’s mindshare in fans and also outspread your brand’s influence.
How to Publish Your Book
You do not really need to wait for eternity in getting a publisher to publish your book. These days, you can self-publish your book as an independent publisher. It is what we call indie publishing. You may start by publishing your book as an e-book, and then later have it as a ‘brick and mortar’ (hard copy) version.
Even if you do not have capital to publish your book title by yourself, we have what we call Print-OnDemand (POD) publishing, whereby your book is handled by online printing companies who will handle the printing and distribution. I currently use Smashwords for my e-books. Hard copies of your books can be handled by Createspace (Amazon), Kindle, Lulu, Lighting Speed, and several online printers/POD publishers.
Your book can be used as the most amazing marketing tool even before it’s finished. It’s Time to Write Your Book!
Getting Publicity for Your Book
What is the point if a beautify signage is placed in a vast desert where nobody will see it? The success of a book is also measured by its popularity, not just by its quality and content.
One of the cheapest and most effective publicity platforms is the social media. It is a very influential platform for publicity. You can get unlimited publicity for your book on social networks, especially the most popular ones like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Goodreads. Create accounts with pages that are strictly dedicated to your targets or book.
Just like me, you can have several different Facebook pages on your personal account. For instance, I have an Author Facebook Page called Moses Olanrewaju Bolarin. I also have other pages for my books, Destiny World, Create Your Own, Mysteries of the Kingdom, etc. Likewise, I have Facebook groups. An example is Simple Global Strategies. I engage with my fans and engage with those that I share an interest with. If your fans love your book, they will share and recommend it to their friends.
LinkedIn is also a great platform, and you may not have to constantly update it like Facebook. Ensure that you reflect the books you have written in your profile. Create links to your book locations on different online platforms, publisher websites, author pages, online retailers’ sites like Amazon to make it easy for people to find it. One other book sales’ booster is book reviews.
You can get book reviews from those who buy your books on Amazon, opinion leaders in your industry, and actual book reviewers that write for publishers, authors, blogs, newspapers and magazines. Book readers often prefer books with multiple reviews. So, try to ask for honest book reviews from others. Avoid buying reviews from those that sell them online.
